omg. everything is so different on xanga. it's been so long since i've even seen my own page.  i got an e-mail the other day that said i need to sign in, and the next thing i knew i had posted a message that said "i'm bringing xanga back."  clever those people.

well since i'm here, a little update wouldn't hurt. i've been reading most of your blogs.  mo and i are doing well.  there's nothing really new to talk about.  it took us a long time to get used to living in a small town, but we're happy for now.   i haven't talked to many of you for a really long time.  i feel out of touch!

well, i don't really know what to say.  i never was great at blogging...

i guess a lot of my time lately has been devoted to following the presidential race.  pretty interesting stuff; a little strange this time, huh? i'm going to vote on super tuesday. i'm pretty excited about that.  i won't, of course, tell you who i'm voting for  ...well, okay, really i haven't even decided yet. we have a caucus here, like in Iowa, so it'll be a new experience. i'm sure i won't make my final decision until i'm actually there. it's a nail biter!

  • A long overdue message

Okay, I know.  I have basically quit using Xanga.  But I've been a little inspired lately by friends who have emailed or posted messages wondering what's going on in my life.  I was terrible at e-mail and xanga before I got married, but now...I never do either! I also realized that many of you have never seen my wedding pictures, so I thought I would post a few.

Mo and I got married on August 5th.  He actually arrived in the US on Aug 2nd, so he was still a bit jet-lagged!  He had a great time though, and as usual, made fast friends with my family and family friends.  He's adjusted  pretty well by now.  He still gets a little homesick, but I can't blame him!  He's pretty far from his "normal!"

Anyway, here are the wedding pics.  The first ones are of the Moroccan wedding last March.  Then you'll see the American wedding.

  • Wow, the World Missions Summit has come and gone... well gone in the way that the event is over, but I have a feeling that "The World Missions Summit" will forever be marked as the event about which thousands of people will say, "That's when I got it."  During the Summit, students got to look the world in the face.  It was impossible to turn a deaf ear.  Impossible to not see the need.  Impossible to say, "I don't feel called."   Even though there were a thousand emotions to be felt, a thousand needs to be met, a thousand directions in which our hearts felt tugged, I don't doubt that each of us there heard the voice of God whispering a real, strategic call in our hearts.  At the very least, a call to care.  If we start there, our hearts will be compelled to great things for God in all the nations of the world. Some heard the call to go, and they are responding.  Some heard the call to stay, and they will continue working in their fields. Whatever each of us heard the Lord speaking, I know that our world will be changed.   We asked the Lord of the harvest for workers, and I do believe he responded.

So I've recently moved into a new apartment.  It's really great.  It's downtown on a very cool street with old houses and trees and cute little bed and breakfasts... My apartment is in an old house that was built in 1912.  It's called the Walnut Manor.  It's so amazing!  The apartment still has some of the houses original light fixtures and general old house qualities. The ceilings are high, all the floors are wood, and it has great wood molding everywhere.   (of course, it also has really bad wiring that leads to frequent power outages!) I think this will definitely be one of  my favorite places I've ever lived.  Kelly H, if you're reading this, you'd absolutely love this place! You're the first person I thought of when I walked in here the first time.

I work downtown, so I can actually walk to work.  It's a great walk: this part of town has so much character.  Also, we're just behind Missouri State's shuttle bus station, so on really cold days, I can just take the shuttle to work.  I'll save so much gas!

I've also just started a seasonal job in the mall.  I'll be working in the petites department at famous barr.  I've just completed the training process, and it seems like it will be a fun venture.  Everyone in the store seems really nice so far and very willing to help out!

So things are looking up.  Perhaps my life is starting to fall into place finally.  I was beginning to wonder if  I was ever going to get settled before I uproot myself again in 9 months!  Well, it's looking good now.  Ensha'ala, it will stay that way.
